6:00 am It has now been 24 hours since I got here and I am really ready to go home. If the machine by my bed beeps one more time, I think I will go bonkers! I am still having them give me pain medication about every couple hours. This morning I will have a barium swallow to see how things are going in my esophagus. They won't give me anything to eat or drink since my surgery, but as soon as I have my barium swallow they will give me drinks. Dad and mom read everyone's comments to me, they made me smile, but not laugh! That is just too painful to think about right now.
11 am They took me to radiology to do my barium swallow. I had to drink the white chalky stuff. But unlike my barium swallow six weeks ago, where the barium just sat in my esophagus and wouldn't go through to my stomach, today it shot through to my stomach like a bullet in a gun. Yippeee!!! My surgery worked and everything looked great, no leaks anywhere!
12 am I finally got a drink, Blue Gatorade.
1 pm They even let me eat vanilla pudding and a chocolate milkshake. If that all stays down well I may get to go home very soon. I am feeling so much better. I keep moving all the controls up and down on my bed, driving mom crazy.

Sam, We don't know each other but that never matters when prayers are needed. I'm so glad that your surgery was successful. I pray that you will have a speedy and complete recovery. How can you miss with a doctor named St. Peter!
Sam, Jeff, Rebecca & Ben,
You have all been in my prayers since I heard about this. I am so pleased to hear that everything went well and that you will soon be feeling better. I hope that you can start eating soon. What is the first meal you want?
Peace,
Chris Snyder

Sam I am! Oh course you would decide to have surgery during Dr. Seuss week here back at school. I didn't know you have been going through all of this!!! I am so sorry! WOw-I can't believe you lost 25 pounds. That is crazy. Lance wants Chris to win the American Idol too. He is his favorite. I haven't decided on a favorite yet.
I love you Sam and I am praying for you! I look forward to seeing your smiling face very very soon!
Who is taking care of your doggy? Have Mom or Dad call if they need me to do anything.

Howdy Doody Sam...Hey you look cool in your pictures. I bet you are having fun with the controls on your bed. You be careful and don't zoom out the window or something! Ha! Ha! I bet that milkshake and gatorade was good. You're making me hungry talking about that milkshake. I am so glad your food is getting to your tummy now. You take good care of yourself and you will be home before you know it. Big ((Hugs))

It's great to see that you are doing well, & so brave around all that hospital equipment. I'm not sure I was that brave when I had my surgeries - that stuff kinda scare me!
Hope to seen you SOON! Barbara
Sam,
I am so happy that your surgery is over! I bet you are too! You are such a special person and your awesome attitude is reflected in everything you do! We miss you so much at school! The kid's ask about you everyday and can't wait till your back! I look at you desk and wish you were here to smile back at me...that always makes my day! You are in my thoughts and prayers. If you or your family need ANYTHING at all, please let me know!
We have a new student in class so when you get back you'll have to meet her. Other than that, we've been working on our inventor projects trying to get ready for Inventor Night next week!
Can't wait to see you,

Sam,
Hi there! I am so happy that you are starting to be able to enjoy food again. When Mitchell had his tonsils taken out he couldn't have fun food like a milkshake for a week. Can you get out of bed and walk around the hospital? When do you think you will be going home? I bet it won't be much longer until you are home. Are you going to play video games? Big hugs to you, Becca ( & Mitch, Cara, & Clinton)
